Herpes family virus causes her2 bc...
I was amazed when I read that the herpes family viruses can activate her2 bc. I wonder if there is more research concerning the virus and her2 bc link besides the article that I will post below? I've googled and found nothing yet, but will keep trying. I seems herpes virus actives the perferred deleterous heterdimerizing partner for her2 to be active in bc, HER3. I've read nothing else in the literature to confirm activation of HER3 other than the herpes virus.

Hi Robin
Interesting post. My immediate thought was the EBV some how intervening in the fats pathways to somehow moderate conditions to its own advantage. Interestingly there is one trial on NCBI which suggest the long chain Omega 3s inhibited EBV activation. I have not had time to more than skin bits of the trial you link to but see the MMPs are involved. DHA inhibits MMP (9? from memory). See the Greek diet thread and latest thread suggesting infection plays a role as an initiator of a significant number of cases of cancer. RB |
Burkitt's lymphoma and nasal pharynx cancer is caused by herpes family virus, Epstein Barr Virus ( EBV) in which some research indicates the EFGR or her2 pathway is involved. Additionally, in Sub Saharin Africa, where EBV is abundant, so is her2 type breast cancers, including inflammatory bc. Interestingly, vaccines using EBV as a vector to deliver chemo and targeted agents are being researched for her2 bc. The association of EBV to her2 bc is an emerging area that I hope we begin to hear more and more about.
Interestingly, EBV is one of eight family herpes viruses and it appears that you can have one of several types of herpes viruses that end up having some molecular features of EBV in its pathology. RobinP |
