Taxotere, Cytoxin

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me their experience with Taxotere and cytoxin. My doctor told me yesterday
that will be my chemo. Also herceptin for at least a year.

Thanks, Laurie

Hi Laurie, I didn't have cytoxin...however I did have taxotere & herceptin. But I'm sure someone here had that exact combo of chemo. There's been alot of posts lately so yours got pushed down quickly. I thought I would "bump" it back up so that you will get some replies.

I can tell you one thing in advanced...the herceptin is usually very well tolerated by most women. You will usually have a muga or echo test every 3 months to keep an eye on your heart so don't let that stress you out. The taxotere can give you a nasty taste in your mouth, and cause a few aches and pains but believe me you can do it. Once you get the taxotere and cytoxin behind you the herceptin will be a cake walk. Hang in there I am sure others will reply.

Hello,
I'm on Taxotere, Cytoxan, and Herceptin. I've been able to tolerate it pretty well with the pre-meds and a few post-med anti nausea pills. I've had two rounds and was just down for about 4-5 days both times. Never got sick but just felt lousy kinda like the flu.

Hope all goes well for you. Check in once you have had your treatment so we can keep in touch. It's always helpful to compare notes on this things.

Take care,

Cindy

Do you have to take Decadron with Taxotere? I had to take it when I had Taxol.

Thanks everybody,
I'm not sure when I'll start chemo. I have a bilateral mastectomy on July 14th. So I guess it depends on how well I heal. I'm having immediate implant reconstruction. The closer it gets the more nervous I am, but I'm anxious to get it over with.

Yes, I get Decadron before my Taxotere and Cytoxan. I declined the two pills for the two days after chemo as I just didn't want all the extra steroids. I just don't think I need them or the extra stuff that comes with the pills.
