Radiation's finally finished!

Hi everyone I'm so glad to be finished with radiation! I am surprised at how tender and sore the breast tissue and lymph node areas are. I've been pounding the Advil for about 10 days. Anyway, I'm glad to be done. I have my first appointment with the oncologist since I finished my chemo. I'm wondering if he'll order any tests and if so which ones?

Chelee 04-25-2008 06:01 PM

Beth, I didn't have rads but I can only imagine what a relief it is to be done with it. I'm so glad you have this all behind you. Thats a good idea to take some advil...stay on top of the pain.

You said you wonder if your onc will order tests now that your done with your chemo. All onc's are different. But I would think with chemo and rads behind you he will want to run a PET/CT? That's what mine did and ran labs. But again...each onc does things differently.

At least you got the worse behind you...and that's where we want to keep it. :) Take care of yourself and get your rest. And congratulations on getting through your treatment. It won't be long till your feeling back to normal. Hang in there and keep us updated.

Congratulations Beth!

When you see your onc, he will prescibe your anti-hormonal (as I noticed you are ER/PR+. And you will continue with Herceptin. Within a week, your skin areas will feel much better. The worst of it is behind you now as you cruise down the survivor highway!

Congratulations Beth! You'll start feeling better everyday that goes by. Just don't try to rush into anything.

Contratulations, Beth.

My doctor gave me a sample lotion-looking gel called "Aquaphor" to put on the radiated area. It helped. I then bought a tube myself. It worked wonders.

Way to go Kiddo!

Wow to be done must be a relief. I am awaiting my start date. I bought some gel with Tea tree oil and aloe vera in it. It does wonders for sun burn and I will see how it works with this.
I am glad that you are almost thru all of this. Keep strong!

Beth, Congratulations on finishing your rads. I understand your relief. I was doing rads, taxol and herceptin at the same time, and during the last week or so I was really dragging. I would get home from work and just flop. The worst is now over! Best, Joan
