Re: "The Making of Herceptin" and skin mets
Can someone help?
Lolly has been on my mind and my copy of the book was loaned out . I am recalling someone in that book that treated skin mets successfully with an injection straight into the mets. I know the book is dated at this point, but the treatment was something not standardly used for breast cancer skin mets, and I don't know if it's something that has been further explored or not. SOMEONE out there please help. Thanks!! TRS |
haven't read the book but have heard Dr Slamon and Dr Pegram lecture
I seem to remember pictures of both herceptin melting skin mets and/or the combination of herceptin and avastin doing so. These were slides used to show great results, not necessarily what happened to every patient.
Will be attending several conferences soon--will tune up my eyes and ears. |
Lani, was that local injections or regular Herceptin infusion? In the book the woman I was thinking of WANTED to try Herceptin injection into the skin mets but couldn't get approval, so ended up doing something entirely different.
