Tykerb & Abraxane -Good News!
Hi her2 friends,
I have been on Tykerb/Abraxane for about one month, and my tumor markers have already gone down significantly! For example, CA27.29 went from 69 to 41. CEA went down from about 13 to about 10. Side effects have been lowered blood counts (especially white) from Abraxane and diarrhea (but more manageable) from Tykerb. I'm sending you all healing wishes and prayers. Lida |
Hi Lida,
I am on that combination in addition to Herceptin. I can tolerate the Abraxane and Herceptin (my WBC went down due to the Abraxane), but the Tykerb causes me terrible diarrhea. Other than fatigue, that is the major side effect that I get from Tykerb. I keep hoping I get used to it, but it is not happening. I try to eat right, like Brenda, but don't always. I just can't wait to get through this treatment. If you have any tips let me know. Best wishes. |
I am happy to hear this is a successful combo for you Lida - in the back of my mind I always wonder what we might have to switch to if my Xeloda runs out of steam.
Hey Tykerb sister, Vanessa - I don't always eat right either, but I do try to err on the side of healthy knowing what the consequences are if I don't...LOL. And they aren't very pleasant! You know what might really help buy you some relief from the diarrhea is to plan out to eat the BRAT diet for breakfast every day or every other day (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast) - that's what I did when the pooterookus really flared up, and it really helped keep it in check. Keep us posted girls! |
Hey hutchibk,
I love your clouds! I've never seen a heart shaped cloud before. Hugs-Verna |
I used to have trouble with diarrhea but now that I've switched to the anti cancer diet John Hopkins recommends it has completely stopped. I believe you can find the info on thier website. I still cannot do the vitamin/mineral regime they recommend - only when not on chemo per my onc - but just the diet alone has done it.

Lida,
That's awesome! Keep up the good work, combo!!! Take care, |
Hey Barb - I can't find the diet you are referring to on the JH website... can you post the diet or at least the link? I am very interested to see what they recommend!
