~Has Anyone Tried Magace For Appetite???
Hubby is still losing weight even though he is eating well. Yes Andi, I am cooking again since his illness, 'ya slacker..LOL-(love ya)!! He has tried so hard to gain weight and eat as much as possible, but to no avail. He WILL NOT smoke marijuana (I actually bought him some as a last resort) and the Marinol pills make him dizzy. I tried to tell him that ALL his meds have this side effect but he knows how he is feeling and WILL NOT take them. They cost $27.50 each x 100 pills, I paid cash for them when we were without medical insurance (he tried them first before I bought them). Almost makes me want to smoke and do the pills myself!! LOL. I would but I do not need my feet to get smaller THAT bad (That's for PinkGirl..Tehehe!!).
Anyone try this drug?? I am thinking it too will make him dizzy. Any imput would help his situation. Talk soon Friends>>Believe51 |
Hi, My mom was on magace, which did increase her appetite, but nothing for the weight loss..Hope you find something that helps..Even the marijuana is for nausea and appetite.
Good luck to you Cat |
Need to pull this up....

I use Megace as an appetite stimulant. It is also used to reduce fatigue. It works on both counts for me.

Marie,
Sorry I don't have any experience with magace. All I can say is let Ed eat whatever he wants whenever he wants -- especially high calorie foods. And Ice cream is good for you espcially with chocolate cake |
So far so good....
Well the first morning after taking it Ed said thank you and I asked for what. He thanked me for exploring the Magace because all he did was think of FOOD. Like I said he is eating and drinking plenty of water and Ensures but the Magace furthers his NEED to eat. It helps to stop the 'wasting' effect of cancer and aids in bulking one up. Today is our Chemo day so we will have to see what the weekend holds in store with the appetite and of course there are side effects like anything else we put into our body.
Thought this post may help someone one day who does not want to smoke marijuana or cannot take the Marinol pills. So far so good. Bon Appetit>>Believe51 |
Melatonin – Gastrointestinal cancer, and weight loss – Melatonin and DHA, taken together, were reported as stabilising weight loss in 63 per cent of patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer not amenable to standard treatment
Please discuss dietary change with your doctor. I cannot make any recommendation in respect of melatonin. I post this for general information as it may have wider implications for weight loss in illness. Wanted To Update You All......
Magace seems to be doing the trick with maintaining his appetite and it is helping to bulk him up a bit. Just wanted to pull this up for others that are having severe weight-loss problems and have tried everything. Also if there are people out there that will not use Marijuana or Marinol, this is a nice alternative>>Believe51
