CT tomorrow
Hi dear sisters,
I know in my heart everything is okay but there is always that little doubt creeping in and won't let me be 100% positive. Several weeks ago I found out I have two fractured ribs on the right and left side. I finished radiation in May and had two bad colds in June and July. The left fracture is in the radiated area and I am convinced it is a side effect of radiation. The right side I think is from a bad cough during the two colds. I had a chest x-ray in June that showed nothing. I had a bone scan in Sept that showed activity, but no cancer. Because of that, a set of rib x-rays were ordered and that did show the fractures. My onc has scheduled a CT for tomorrow to be sure it is not a reoccurence. I know Sheila has mentioned she had a rib fracture. Is this common after radiation? I may have gotten a little zealous with activities right after radiation also, that prevented things from healing. Building houses for Habitat for Humanity is our passion, plus I helped paint the exterior of our two story house, helped my daughter move and helped build a storage shed for our son and daughter in law in SD. I just wanted to get back to a normal life! Your prayers would be appreciated. My test is 8 am and I have an appointment with my onc at 1 pm and Herceptin immediately following. Thanks! Donna |
Prayers are already coming...
As always prayers are sent your way. In the morning with my first cup of java in my NEW Believe mug I will toast for good results. And Sweetness, during your test I will be praying even harder>>Believe51

There is rib fracture involved with 1.5% of those who get radiation that goes out to 10 yrs - so if you multiply that out, its alot of women even though the percent looks small.

Hey friend, you will be in my thoughts and prayers that the CT is normal....you make me tired with all the things you have gotten done! I wish I was coming tomorrow instead of Thursday, we could have some fun at the treatment lounge! (liven it up a tad). Rest well tonight, you have a long day tomorrow....you are in my thoughts and prayers dear friend. |
ribs
Hi DonnaD
I'd tell you not to worry, but..........we all worry. That's the nature of the beast. I had a rib fracture "light up" on a bone scan last month. I have never had radiation, and I don't recall ever breaking a rib. But I guess I did. I will be thinking about you tomorrow and sending you good vibes........Good luck to you. |
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hoping for the absolute best for you.
hugs |
My thoughts and prayers are with you that your mind will be put at ease so that you can continue with all the wonderful things you do!
All my best, Patrice |
Prayers
Hello Donna,
Prayer said to our dear Lord that healing is complete for you. I ask that He would bless you with His peace and hold you close. May your heart be light and worry be left with Him. I ask all in Jesus' Name. Amen Hugs - Mary Jo |
I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that everything goes well.

Donna, I found out from my last CT that I had 2 rib fractures, now healed, on my left side, site of the primary disease and subsequent radiation in 2000. Apparently at some point I must have done something but I don't remember! Only thing I can think of is a bad cold a couple of years ago, I remember coughing ALOT, which could have caused the fractures as the bones are somewhat weakened from the radiation, and as Becky says, this can have consequenses for some some time.
Hoping your scan is clear, keep us posted. Hugs to you, <3 Lolly |
Donna,
I could say don't worry but that would be a waste of words. I know how worried you must be. At least you have the scan early in the morning and then see the oncologist in the afternoon. Hopefully you will have the results tomorrow. I'll keep you in my prayers. |
Thinking of you. I am hopeful that the ct will show NO signs of cancer.
HUgs and Prayers, Lexi |
You can add me too! You are in my thoughts and prayers..
