Dietary questions w. Her2+ er-/pr-
I have been reading on the blog....a lot of info out there....and a bit overwhelmed! My mom has always taken viatamins and anti-oxidants, I'm not sure about the fish oils....anyway. There has been information posted about supplements helping reduce HER2.
1...what sort of supplements would be most beneficial? 2....will any of them interfere w/ her current treatment...taxotere/carboplatin/herceptin? 3...Any particular foods she should be avoiding? Thanks All!! |
Hi Hope, I'll be watching this thread with you, I'd like the same information and hopefully in some plain language that I can understand. It would be great to know of a few things to take and very helpful knowing what to avoid. My oncologist said no to most all supplements but I'll be finishing my herceptin next month and I don't think supplements would do any harm. I hope some of our very helpful sister will jump in on this subject.

Thought you might find these posts interesting. If these are the latest posts, it might be time to post what we take again as these are from 2005.

On fish oil omega threes and sixes these may be of interest.
http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin...ght=greek+diet http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin...ght=greek+diet and more generally http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin...st+cancer+diet And as to particular treatments search here by entering your treatment term and DHA, or omega three, or docosahexaenoic (the name of DHA) A number have been trialled with DHA and do show synergies. I posted a trial looking at the subject generally but at this moment do not recall what it was titled or which thread I filed it under. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ and on google scholar Finally please discuss any thoughts you have with your onc RB |
