Folic Acid
 

My oncologist directed me to quit taking my multi vitamin because it contains Folic Acid. I noticed it is also in the Wheat Germ that I was adding to my "power smoothies". I did not question him further at my last appointment - I assumed I would see info on the web or in this forum. I'm not sure if the issue is with Tykerb/Xeloda or the Zometa I receive. Obviously, I will be questioning him further about it this Thursday. Has anyone else heard anything about this or been instructed to stop Folic acid intake?

Folic acid can make the side effects of Tykerb/Xeloda markedly worse, that is why they don't want you to take it... I can't take multi vits or B complex because of the folic acid.

Thanks for the info - I'm trying to figure out what vitamins I should take in lieu of the multivitamin.....any input from anyone is welcome
