Good news! clear scans 6 mo post liver resection!

Hi all;

I have not posted much over the summer but I have periodically been checking in to see how you all were doing. I just wanted to share with you good news. My follow-up scans 6 months post liver resection we all clear!!!!! The only downside is I also had a bone density scan and it came back low, osteopenia, I will need to add a bi-phosphate to my regime.
No matter, I am thrilled to be feeling so fine but any words of wisdom in regard to the pros and cons of the various choices are welcome.

I had a fantastic summer racing my sailboats, and traveling a couple weeks in Europe. I watched my youngest start high school last week and now I am confident that I will get to see them both graduate even. --- back in 2004 I did not think that was going to be possible. Life is wonderful and I am greatful to all of you for helping to keep me sane and informed.

Take care
K

my laugh for the day sent by one of the grad students in my lab:

Subject: Truth in drink

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom,
in Water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated
that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we
would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) -
bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila,
rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a
purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water
and be full of shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

I'm doing it as a public service.

You are right. Life is wonderful. Racing sailboats must be wonderful (can't do it. Have a tendency to horrific seasickness). May you live to see your grandchildren graduate from college.

Yeah yeah, it's nice to know that your liver is clear....

but it's REALLY good to know the other, Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water
and be full of shit.

LOL just kidding - It's great to hear your sense of humor is also in great health! Thanks for posting your good news.

That's great news! Although I did think that your case sounded very hopeful.

Yes I had been wondering how you were too. I am so glad that all your wonderful family is doing well too and that you had a great time in Italy, shame I was in the US on your stop over to London.

An excellent reason to enjoy my glass of wine tonight - I raise it in celebration of clear scans and, of course, to all our good health.
Warmly,
Rentrac
