Thank you all for such great support.
I had my first treatment with my chemo "cocktail" today. It went very well and I'm feeling pretty good but totally exhausted. I think it's mostly from the premeds and the fact that my hemoglobin was low. I got a bag of tagament, decadron, benedryl, and an IV push of Aloxie (spelling?) before my treatment. My daughter took me and that's a good thing as I don't think I would have been able to drive myself home without falling alseep at the wheel. I also got a prescription for Phenegram for nausea if I need it which I did about an hour ago. I'm glad I don't have to take the Decadron pills like I did when I had the Taxatore! I will get a scan in approximatley 8 weeks to check if this regime is working or not. I'm hoping and praying that it does the trick. My plan is to kick these nasty mets to the curb! My grandson's birthday party is Sunday afternoon and I will be going to it. He will be 7 and I wouldn't miss his special day for anything. He is the light of my life. I'm sure all you grandmothers feel the same way about your grandchildren. They are a very special gift. Again, thank you for yoiur support and encouragement. Don't know what I'd do without this great website and all the wonderful, inspiring women here. |

One down....................................
Hi Kate,
Well....one down!!!! Thankfully your day went well and I, too, am thankful your daughter took you. I hope this "cocktail" does the job and kicks those nasty cancer buggers to the curb!!! And yes, from one grandma to another, those grandbabies are blessings and truly are the light of our life. Sleep well Kate. May God hold you close and cover you with His peace and love. Love from a "sister" on the journey, Mary Jo |
Hi Kate!
What a great reward for finishing up that 1st treatment - time with your grandson. I totally know what you mean about grandkids! Totally light up my world too! I'm praying and believing with you that your treatment beats the pants off the mets and allows you lots of good times with family and friends! ma |
Kate, happy to read your mail. I recognize your usual spirit. Fighting but vigilant. Hope you will not be too tired and that it was only the pre- medication. Have a great birthday party tomorrow! keep giving news.
Sheila, how about you? How are you? I like your new picture. Michka |

I am doing OK, half way through the regimen. I am having a hard time with my B/P due to the Avastin...I am now on B/P meds to help control it...my counts are starting to take a downward slide, and I can feel it...this must be like running a marathon...I'm starting to tire...waiting for my second wind! |
Hi Sheila! happy you answered. Half way through. Keep on going. It must be difficult. I hope your onc. helps you on the second part cope with the tiredness. Do you have to wait until the end to know if it is working?
I am thinking of you. Michka |
Kate and Sheila, I'm sending my best to both of you! I'm a little zoned out this last week recovering from my surgery so I'm a bit late with the well wishes. They're heartfelt though :)
