hello ladies

new to this website, I usually post on YSC. I'm 34, live in the UK, stage iii, finished FEC+Taxotere, rads, currently on Herceptin.
Lazy to search for an answer so if someone of you has spare time would be great to receive info on Herceptin+ Tykerb compared to just Herceptin..
And just saying hello to you, wish you enjoy the weekend

Hi there, and welcome! I'm pretty lazy myself, one of the reasons I love this site is there are lots of super smart researchers here so I just ride on those coattails!

But maybe I can give you a start.

Not sure what your questions are, but I do know that there is not yet a lot of data on Herceptin plus Tykerb in combination, although there are trials ongoing. Here is a link to one:
http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/sho...4036EB?order=5

Herceptin, as you probably know, targets the Her2 growth factor, Tykerb targets Her2 and Her1, which would suppress "crosstalk" between the two. They also work differently, Herceptin targets the receptor outside the cell, Tykerb targets the part inside the cell. So Tykerb can still be effective even after Herceptin fails.

Take care
Chris
