pet/ct and bone mets

Anyone have bone mets on pet scan that didn't show up on bone scan?My x-rays and bone scan are inconclusive. My back feels like it is going to break!!!!
Trying to get a pet scan soon.

Hugs sorry you are in Pain. Ask your doctor for some pain pills to help relieve your suffering. It sounds like you need new tests for sure.
When I take the PET scan I am given a special diet. This diet is given to insure that I have no glucose in my system prior to the test. This also insures accurate results. I would suggest you ask for a MRI of the spine as this shows in detail the spine bones. Also Tumor Markers would be needed ask for cea and ca 27-29 atleast to be used as a baseline.

I use the MRI of the Thoracic and Lumbar to see my spine bones. The bone scan is used for the rest of the body. I do get xrays of the spine 2 views as well. I wish you the very best.

Hugs

pet/ct scan

Lala, Thanks for replying. Had a CA27/29 about 5 weeks ago as a baseline. It was 28 out of a 38 range. I will see which they want to do(MRI or Pet). But I'm going to hang on like a bull dog and get one or the other. I do take tylenol#3 when I can't stand it anymore but my GP doesn't want me to take too many as in Jan. they just got me off pain pills(prescribed) which put me in a coma. So I'm really careful. Thanks again!!

The first scan I had was a Pet/CT and it showed mets to bone in several spots. After chemo, when I went to get rads, the rad onc sent me for a bone scan, and it showed no evidence of bone mets.
The rad onc says the pet/ct sometimes shows things that aren't there.
So, whether they really were there and the chemo killed them, or they were never there at all, for now all I know is there is NED as far as anything in bone.
I assume at some point post rads, I will have a new pet/ct to see what it shows.
