Good news last week, but...

I got good news last week but now I am unsure. My doctor decided to skip this quarter's CT scans because everything has been staying small, and my 27-29 numbers have been staying in the normal range. I asked for an x-ray of my shoulder just to set my mind at ease, because of some pain. We both thought it was a herceptin side effect, but extra because of previous radiation. He also scheduled a bone scan because it has been a year. He said he would call with the results. Yesterday they called to set up an appointment to go over the results on the 22nd. Can bone mets grow even when the numbers are down? I'm ok with it either way (I think), it's just the waiting to find out. I know you all understand, which is why I posted even though it really is no big deal compared to others. Thanks for being there! Beckie

Arthritis?

Dear Beckie:
I had a bone scan about 4 moths ago over mets concerns. It turn out to be arthritis on the shoulders, wrists, knees (one worse than the other), etc. Basically it was nothing!!!!, . Do not worry, probably it's nothing. Not sure if you're a Mom, but just in case..... Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Becky,
The waiting is definitely the worst! You can see my dx below, but my onc agreed to do a bone scan and CT scan because of my worries about mets. I am not at high risk, but with HER2, who knows?

So, my bone scan lit up a spot on my back. Then I had an inconclusive xray, and an MRI with contrast to show what ever else they could find. The MRI found a buldging disk and signs of bone degeneration they attributed to arthritis. So, all in all they think I am clear of mets, but they did stop short of saying they KNOW it. They say that with what they found and my low risk for mets they are "99% sure" that it is not mets, but the only way to know 100% is to do a bone biopsy.

It still niggles at the back of my mind now and again.....

Hope you get great results. Keepign my fingers crossed for you.

I think it's plain not nice to keep you guessing. Remember to tell them that. The docs told me on the phone the way it was, diagnosis, with the appointment to come in.I prefer tp kick things in the privacy of my own home. I hope it's nothing. Keep us posted. BB

Becky the waiting is torture for all of us.I really hope it's good news,I had convinced myself I had bone mets but the scan showed bone loss on the spine area which explained my back pain along with the Arimidex joint pain. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope the time goes quickly.

Hello Becky

Becky, could I ask what your CA27/29 numbers are? I am curious to find out. Also, if they are moving up or down, by how much? I will talk to you soon. Our prayers will be with you.>>Waiting For A Miracle>>Marie G

I agree that waiting for any test results is the worst.

Marie, My CA27-29 has been back and forth from 24 to 30 for the last nine months , compared to 262 a year ago, so I have much to be thankful for. I am feeling so much better than last year! I will let you all know what I find out next Tuesday. Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
