question-- biopsies

This probaly sounds like a stupid question but here goes anyway.
What is the difference between a guided core needle biopsy and a stereotactic biopsy. The second type uses x-rays as a guide using the VAD to obtain the tissue while lying prone?? I had the guided core needle and I thought they used the U/S screen as a guide and I was on my back. I know it hurt and with every spec taken ( I think there were 5 ) it sounded like a mouse trap was going off..
anyone care to clarify ??
Thanks,
Carol.
