ovaries turned back on after 2 years.....
Does anyone have a similar experience ?? Its been almost 2 years since my a/c treatments put me into menopause (I just turned 49) Onc checked hormone levels repeatedly to make sure I was showing postmenopause bec he wanted me on Arimidex vs. Tamoxifen.....Estradiol was sometimes fluctuating, but the others were in the post men. range, and he consulted with my gyn and an endocrinologist for their opinions...and they all concurred..Now I have just had what seems to be a full blown, heavy period, with cramps, clotting, and the works, and have stopped arimidex while he does the levels again.......Could ovaries really turn back on after almost 2 years and 8 treatments of chemo PLUS a year of herceptin??

My ovaries too are showing faint signs of revival. I've had about 6 mini-periods - all at the right time of the month too! Amazing how the body takes up right where it left off.
My hot flashes (which were absolutely horrible) also seem to have taken a break. I'm three years out of my AC/T treatment and 3 months out of my last H treatment. Merridith |
First switched me from arimidex to tamoxofin.
I really wanted an ooph, but initially onc did not want to do it. I started having some uterine thickening and a ovarian cyst with elevated ca 125. All test were ok, but drs then got on board and I had a hysterectomy with ooph about 5 weeks ago. Now I am back on arimidex again. Hope this helps. Kim |
I just restarted my cycle 5 months after I stopped chemo. What a disappointment.
