Did anyone else read the depressing cancer article in the Washington Post? It really upset me a lot. Does anyone else feel that? HavahJ

Havah,

I read it a few minutes ago. I think the writer was just trying to put the recent news into perspective. He quotes a number of cancer specialists that statistics are just that, they don't apply to you or me in particular but to a general population. Don't fear, hope is there in lots of new drugs coming to market or under investigation, many vaccine studies, etc.

I read it over at least 3 x. In a way it's a reality check. Not all of us can be outliers on the right hand side of the curve. Our odds are better than the lottery though.

There really hasn't been enough time to evaluate how H will affect our little bell curve.

Back to our rollercoaster. I'm holding onto my hope. BB

I really didn't like this article. The writer was very negative and I disagree with what he was saying. And excuse me, but my onc. and OTHERS have given a better report with regards to Herceptin. The writers general attitude is one of doom and gloom and actually he reminds me of those select few that like to talk about other peoples "dire situations" just to have something to talk about. You know the type- the ones who like to spread the bad news and in no way are helpful or supportive. It's like they get off on the negative stuff. He OBVIOUSLY has never had cancer, or been touched by someone in his life who has. AND HE OBVIOUSLY HAS NEVER MET THE SUPERWOMEN OF THIS SITE WHO ARE BEATING THOSE CRAPPY ODDS!

Can you tell that this pissed me off?!?!

Love, Kelly
