Re-excision lumpectomy over - now I wait... again
Had my repeat lumpectomy (re-excision) yesterday afternoon. Didn't get clear surgical margins with the first lumpectomy. I'm growing really tired of the "waiting" game. I'm sure that most of you can sympathize.
I didn't have a long wait for the biopsy results initially. Biopsies were Friday, results Monday. Then it was a 3 week wait for first lumpectomy. Then a week wait to get pathology back at post-op appointment. Then another 3 week wait for this re-excision lumpectomy and now another 1+ week wait for pathology. These have been the longest 2 months of my life... Skeetur |

Keep your chin up, we are all praying for a good report...waiting has got to be the hardest part of all of this...waiting and fear of the unknown....take each day with positive thoughts, do something special and spontaneous just for you.....hoping you get your results early and they are Great News! |
Been there - done that!
I almost chewed my nails down to the second knuckle during the time after my 1st lumpectomy and the 2nd lumpectomy. Try to focus on learning all you can about your type of cancer so you have the best plan of attack. Take care of things around the house, work and family so you won't feel so overwhelmed when the chemo begins. Hang in there! Maria (MTS) |
I will be praying for you. The wait is always the worst. Keep very busy and keep your mind especially busy. Good luck.

Dear Skeetur
I called my oncologist when I had my second surgery for clear margins. I just asked him if the margins weren't clear and I had to get a masectomy, how long did I have to wait for chemo (or could I take some chemo and get a masectomy and then finish chemo). When he called back to answer my question (3 days after the second surgery) he said I had clean margins. He (pre) checked prior to calling me and the results were in. So... is there someone you can call. They end up knowing far earlier than you think. |
