Thank you Sheila! I never knew about this and would love to attend. Have you been there before? Can you shed some light on your opinion of it? Would love to meet fellow her2 patients from our area.

I have not been there before but was sent this from a friend...it is for all breast cancer survivors, and advocates to promote breast cancer awareness. I am going to call today and see about going to it...do you plan on going?

Rinaina said she is interested. I talked to Joe and plan to attend as a rep from Her2 support....we will have a informational table there. Anyone else interested let me know. This is similar to the day of caring in Colorado that Lisa represented our group at.

I am new to the Her2 support group and would love to attend IL Day of sharing. More importantly I would like to meet other fellow Her2 patients in our area. Shelia do you need help with the table? Would anyone be interested in doing lunch together?

Colorado Day of Caring
Sheila -
Having "staffed" the booth with Lisa at the Colorado Day of Caring I would recommend you take some help (and a digital camera)! When the HER2SUPPORT banner is at the table you will get a lot of drop by people. Some reecently diagnosed and needing info on HER2/Herceptin and I suppose now Tykerb as well. Some "veterans" to talk shop and hear about recent developments. Some Onc and Onc nurses that want to know how an online support group works and if it is right for their patients. Some "newly annointed" care givers looking for help. And a few people that do not know what HER2 is and want to find out. All in all, you could spend several hours on your feet and talking. The more help you have the more you can rest. Plus, at the Colorado Day of Caring, there are several symposiums/lectures running constantly and you may want to sit in on a few of them! Joe and Christine were wonderful with providing any documentation/flyers we needed, but I think the best thing we did was bring a laptop computer with a large screen monitor and had the facility provide us with Internet access. We had the site up and running the entire time and I think the mouse almost got worn out from the people browsing the site! Careful not to wear yourself out! Love and Light Mel |

Thanks for all your input....I know we need to get the word out about our group...it has truly been a lifesaver to me. I learned going to the SABCS that I need to take good care of my feet...the Xeloda has done a number on them....if it was only warm enough to wear flip flops here in Illinois!!! But after seeing how Denver got slammed several times, I will take our Illinois weather without complaint. I will check into the idea of the laptop...that would be perfect. Thanks for all the great advice and for continuing to mentor and care for us! Lisa is proud I am sure! |
