Never received Herceptin

I was just wondering how many of us that are HER2+ have not received Herceptin and are still NED? How many are ER+ versus ER-?

Thanks.

I am adding my signature with my history.

My oncologist stated there was no studies done to show if Hercepin would help when I was 14 months out so I did not push for the Herceptin. I am just wondering how many of us did not receive Herceptin and are still NED 3 years out of diagnosis.

I was diagnosed Stage 1 (2 cm) in October 2000 at the age of 41; ER+/PR+; Her2+++; Grade 3; Lumpectomy, SNB, A/C, rads, Tamoxifen and now Arimidex. No Taxol or Herceptin. NED so far.

Teach Trial

Hi,

NED, Dx 2002, treated with CAF x 6, then tamoxifen for 1 3/4 years, then Arimidex. Onc was willing to allow Herceptin but discussions with 3 oncs were not enthusiastic about benefit for me with Herceptin. Am scheduled currently to have a CT to further investigate after chest x-ray and side pain, but with all labs and markers coming back fine.

I'm considering participating in the TEACH trial that is coming up (which is the lapatinib vs placebo trial) for those who did not get Herceptin, and you all might want to think about it. It is a pill, which makes it easier to do.

P.S. lapatinib = Tykerb

P.s.

HER2+++, ER+, PR+ T1c

And I will be discussing the possibility of vaccines with my onc as well before I head back home to Alaska...

No herceptin

I was diagnosed in April 2003, followed by mastectomy, 4 rounds of A/C dose dense and 4 rounds of taxol, dose dense. No rads. I am three years out from treatment, NED. I worry every day that I should have had Herceptin. I received 4 opinions and none of them recommended it for me 1 1/2 years out.

TEACH trial

I talked with my new onc this week again about the TEACH trial. I think that maybe not much is happening with it yet because this may be waiting for announcement at the upcoming San Antonio discussions, to allow more people to be aware of it. Anyway, the onc knows I am interested in getting more details. Because it is being offered in some very remote places, as an Alaskan I am hoping that it can be done from where I live too.

My CT was clear. The trial requires being NED. If I hear more about it I will post.

My onc's office (in Maine) got the ok to go ahead with the TEACH trial this week. I go in Thurs. for the required physical, blood work, ekg, and to do the paperwork to start. So, as long as I pass the physical, etc., I should be starting it sometime soon.
