Buy pink during October

To all of you.

I know my little dollars may not count but I always make it a point to buy any one of many supporting produts for breast cancer. I nag my friends to do as well. I figure any little dollars counts for us get the meds we need.

These are but a few

Avon
Estee Lauder
Walmart
Walgreens
Linnens and Things

Love to all

Frangos candy

... and then there is the Frangos candy I saw at Macy's today. Frangos are a Seattle "institution" but are in all the Macy's now. Pink frosting over a truffle and $1 of each purchase goes to BC research.

Wonder who keeps track of all that??

Pink designer duckies on eBay

Take a look at these and feel free to bid.

Celebs decorated the basic pink rubber ducky and they ARE cute!

Frango Mints...a staple from Marshall Fields I have enjoyed for years...so glad Macy's is keeping that tradition, they make them in the store in Chicago.....

And then I found York Peppermint Patties (with pink filling instead of white), Pink Wrapped Hershey's Kisses and of course pink M&M's and the cutest coffee mugs for 4.99 all at Walgreens.

I could gain even more weight this month!

Campbell's Soup has changed the famous red and white label to pink and white for the month of October - looks cool!

Maybe I can find some pink-wrapped candy to give out for Halloween. MJO

One word of caution on this....

....while many organizations are donating a decent amount of profits of their "pink" merchandise to breast cancer research organizations, this is not the case for all of them. Take a look at http://www.thinkbeforeyoupink.org/ - there are some companies who are using breast cancer awareness month as a way to pad their bottom line, not to be philanthropic.

I'm all for giving money for breast cancer research, but some of these companies are doing very little of that.

More "pink things"

Even Ford Motor Co is getting into the act! They say 100% of proceeds of the sale of the "pink gear" goes to Komen. Stuff is kind of cool!

Just to give the history of Frango mints.
They were made in Seattle at the Frederick & Nelson department store since the 40'sor 50's. Only could get them there. Then they sold the brand to The Bon Marche (another local department store chain) before finally going out of business. The Bon chain was bought by Allied Stores (I think that's the name) and became part of the Marshall Field group. Now the Bon is Macy's, but they still sell the Frangos. I would not care except my Dad loves them and likes to get some for Christmas, Father's Day, etc.
