What do you think?

Today was one of those fretting over recurrence days and wondered what you think?

I was diagnosed last June, 2005 - surgery July. Chemo started in August - 4 A/C - 4 taxol/herceptin. Chemo ended Nov. 30, 2005. Herceptin still continuing. Last one Oct. 11. I had a PET scan in July 2005 and the only cancer showing up was right breast (original diagnosis)

What do you think the odds are that I could recur already? Could cancer have been hiding out their and pop up already?

Marejo

Just aches and pains and worry about recurrence.

I think what this disease does to our minds is almost as bad as what it does to our bodies. I am so tired of worrying over this. I can't tell you about the reoccuring chance, but I am wishing you some peace of mind. I guess that's why I have scans done every 3 months (I'm stage IV), it gives me peace of mind to know that all is fine when they come out clean. Can't say they are not stressful, they are..but I know my imagination can be even more stressful. I have constant aches and pains and headaches and backaches that I wouldn't know what was symptoms and what was just from my activities...It's like I told my Oncologist, I don't know what's real or not anymore. If you are worrying, ask to have your scans repeated, it's been over a year...sherryg683

worry

Mary Jo
From what I have read on this site, 2 years from date of diagnosis seems to be the magic date for the Her2Neu positives. You are coming up on that date soon. I'm sure that that won't completely alleviate your worries but hopefully it will help. I think that the passing of time with nothing happening is going to be the best reassurance possible. We can go completely crazy from worry over this. I HATE it. I do know that just reading about the long term Her2Neu positive survivors on this site has really encouraged me. Esp compared to the first week's info that my sister received. It was so upsetting to hear words like aggressive, poor prognosis, high grade, comedotype, unfavorable..... Now I realize that those same words give her a higher chance of the herceptin doing its job. You just hang in there Mary Jo. From what you have said about yourself regarding time of diagnosis, aggressive treatment, etc., you have great odds.

Your sister in Christ,
Lisa
