Sunitinab?
Has anyone ever heard of this drug Sunitinab? My mother has brain mets and has already undergone WBR. The mets came back within a few months of WBR. She is currently on Gemzr+Carboplatinum and herceptin.
We were looking to see if we could get her on Lapatinib when 1 oncologist (a friend of a Dr that we know) mentioned that Sunitinab was an option we should consider. I have never heard of this drug. Has anyone else heard or used it? Thanks, Hina PS - My brother Shahyan posts on this site too about our mother. |
This is Sutent
I think the actual spelling of this is sunitinib?
It is FDA approved for gastrointestinal stromal cancer and renal cell cancer, but is also in trials for other cancers including metastatic breast cancer. Here is a link to a press release on it, sort of old, but it may help you find more info. http://www.pfizer.ca/english/newsroo...&releaseID=167 I really know nothing about this drug, but perhaps it is a small molecule and may cross the blood-brain barrier which might be why your mother's oncologist is considering it. Good luck, hang in there |
