tumors
I am confused by all of the info on supplements and foods that reduce tumors. If you had surgery as I did to remove the tumor, isn't it gone? Why would you want to take supplements to remove or reduce something that is gone?

Depending on the size/grade/surgical margins of the tumor, the presence of cancer cells in the lymph nodes, etc, many people cannot be certain that ALL the cancer has been removed. That is the reason for adjuvant chemotherapy - to try and make sure any hidden cancer cells have been dealt with.
Same thing with using supplements or nutritional interventions - only these also have the benefit of strengthening the system and making the body less hospitable to cancer - whether it is residual cells from a previously existing tumor or the development of a new cancer. Most people have cancer cells in their body at some time in their life - and the immune system deals with it. Those who have already had cancer may be well served by trying to improve the natural chemistry of their bodies and in that way boost immunity to prevent future problems. My philosophy is, if it won't hurt and there's evidence that it MAY help, I'll do it! |
