more bone mets
 

Hi all, I had a bone scan and it has shown new mets to ribs, femur and the whole spine??Wierd I am not in pain. I have been doing herceptin since last August and zometa. My tumor markers last month (ca15-3) were 102 so we added navelbine 2 times and they are now 66. I leave for Mexico tomorrow so I did not do navelbine this week. My onc did say they are small he is not worried etc...and that some of the spots are likely healing lesions...How do you know for sure?? How do we know if zometa is working or not? with new spots coming I feel like it must not be! Can anyone tell me they're success stories with bone mets..It appears that navelbine works well on my markers does that mean that if given a longer period of time that it could clear up some of these bone mets...I am trying to remain positive and so on..but you all know how it is every..once and a while.....fear shows it's UGLY face!! The good news is that my liver is still clear...but fatty??hmmmmmm

I think the best test to distinguish between bone mets & healed bone lesions is the PET scan since the injected radioactive glucose compound attaches only to active tumour sites.False positive results are few and can be minimized as indicated in this post:
