A Break From Cancer

It was so nice to take a break from day to day living with cancer....took a short trip to Key West and even though the weather was bad due to the tropical storm, , it was so refreshing to forget about cancer for a few days....something about tropical palm trees and the ocean...the relaxation was wonderful

I'm SO glad you got to get away...
 

and may you have MANY more to enjoy life...cancer free.

There is something about the beach and ocean that takes you away from things. After I went in remission, I treated myself and family to a Florida vacation. I think it was the first time before and since my Cancer that I didn't have it on my mind constantly. We are taking another trip next week and boy do I need it. I have to have a whole set of scans done before I leave to make sure I am still in remission. So I will either have a great vacation or be getting drunk every night to get myself ready for what's to come. I have great hope that all will be fine, I feel too good lately for this crap to have come back so soon... Your picture by the palm tree is wonderful, looks like paradise.sherryg683

Thanks to all of you for the positive visuals. I hope to take many vacations in my future but until then you have brought vacations to me and I will hold these pictures in my mind tomorrow during my second chemo treatment with A/C.

Its a nice little miracle that a change of scenery can really be a change in perspective! I'm glad you got a few days away from cancer-itis. What a great picture - you look like you are so relaxed you could fall asleep on that palm tree!

I also took a vacation from cancer - got a good set of scans and flew off to Ireland etc. for 3 weeks. It felt so terrific and I couldn't believe there were moments - even hours when I didn't even think about having cancer. I guess that's one way of "living with it"

Sheila - A woman after my own heart! My parents live in Naples Florida in the winter. It is my "safe haven". No matter how bad things are, when I am standing on the pier, feeling the wind, listening to the waves and the sea birds, everything gets put back in place for me. I see the bigger picture. I know that I am not alone.

Looks so relaxing. I too am taking a vacation from cancer. I will be leaving on a Caribbean cruise, June 25. I can't wait. I just hope the tropical season is good to us without any storms. We will be going to Jamaica, Grand Caman, & Cozumel. This trip is a belated 25th wedding anniversary from last year(5-24). I dx in April last year. What a bummer.
