Worried about tamoxifen
You'd think that a year out of chemo I would be moving on, but all this talk about tamoxifen and her2 resistance is really gnawing at me. When I started tamoxifen last summer I was just beginning my year of "late" herceptin. Now that I'm done with the herceptin I feel like my safety net has been taken away. I have asked my onc about AIs twice but he just gives me the same "you were premenopausal when you were dx" dance. I am clearly in menopause now and want to have a frank discussion with him about switching. Can anybody give me suggestions on how I should approach this? I feel like I need to go in there with ammo!

Are you ER+??
Are you ER+?? The resistance for tamoxifen is found in HER2+, ER+ patients. If you are ER+ look at the following link.
http://www.bcm.edu/fromthelab/vol03/is6/04aug_n4.htm You can also do a google search on: Her2 + ER+ tamoxifen resistance Breast cancer and get quite a few results. |
From SABCS last December, Dr. Slamon presented some excellent results of Herceptin + faslodex. dberg, maybe you should switch onc. After all, if our car mechanic can do his / her job, we fire them as well and I would much rather have my car broken than me.
Anyone have a link to the H + F study?? Al |
