Just thought you might be interested: I gave up on the cardiologist who had never heard of herceptin and didn't want to give me a MUGA and treated me like I was going to die of cancer anyway, so why bother. Anyway I went to a new cardiologist Monday. He seems to think the bypass surgery for my heart has been postponed long enough (2 years) and now that I am NED, it's a good time to go for it. I am having an angiogram tomorrow to see if the heart blockage is any better or worse and then he will give me an opinion about going ahead with the surgery. I am both scared and excited! It would be wonderful to be able to go visit my grand and great grand children who mostly live at altitudes over 5 thousand. Right now I can visit rarely and for very short periods, barely breathing with oxygen 24/7. So say a prayer for me and wish me luck! I'll let you know how the angiogram goes and if we are planning to go further. Hugs, Tricia (PS> The new cardiologist looks like Sonny Bono with a touch of Jeff Foxworthy thrown in. He has a sense of humor--which my stuffy former heart doctor didn't have! He even wears cowboy boots! What an improvement!)

Hi Tricia, It sounds like you found a much better Cardiogist then the one you had. :) I have followed your posts and he has put you off long enough. I know I personally would NOT of liked the attitude & message your last cardiogist was giving you.

That is great that you can get the needed tests now. Please keep us updated on how the angiogram comes out. I have a feeling it will be great. I know what its like to be on oxygen 24/7...its not much fun.

I really am thrilled you changed doctors. Wishing you all the best with your new doctor. I for one will be saying a prayer for you. At least this new doctor seems to care. I am glad you found him.

Good luck Tricia! Just want you to know my 76 yr. old dad had quintuple bypass surgery last fall after a heart attack, and he did great. The recuperation went a bit slower than normal as he's somewhat disabled, but he was back in his apartment after 2 weeks and started cardiac re-hab a month later. Now he feels wonderful, and they even stopped his blood pressure meds as his bp is "perfect"!
It's a difficult recovery for the first few days, but you'll be amazed after a few months. You will feel like a new woman!

So glad you changed docs. We DO have to take things into our own hands at times. Please let us know about the heart surgery. I can only imagine how scary it must be. But so many people have it now that it must be a good "treatment."

Do some searches on WEB on cardiac disease and omega three, and (even better think about looking at balancing your omega threes and sixes). There is some information on the Mayo site.

I have read some interesting trials on omega three and recovery etc.

There are also some posts on this site.

Do consult as increasing omega three / dha epa can induce blood thinning etc.

Amazing the difference in doctors and their attitudes. I am so happy you found a good one! I have seen a few friends go through this operation and they did so very well.....even one who was extremely ill at the time. I know this will work out very well for you and you will be able to live as you wish with your family. I will be praying for you and watching for your posts.

It sounds like you have everything under control. Those doctors haven't seen anything yet - wait until you're at 1000% again. They've only seen 100%.
