A Christmas Blessing

The last gift I opened today was a book written by my 21 year old daughter, expressing everything I mean to her. Yes, it made me cry. I am so proud of the woman that she has become. I will share some of my favorites for you.

In the section titled "Mom knows best" Emilee wrote, "Boys will break my heart but my mommy was and will be there to pick up the pieces."

The section titled "Thankyou Mom" Emilee wrote, Thankyou for not buying me alcohol or letting my friends drink at the house." There were 10 pages of things she thanked me for.

Under "things my mom said", she wrote, "Never ever touch roadkill. It might explode and you could get rabies!

A trait I past on to her include, the ability to forgive and forget no matter what.

She also wrote a letter to God, A letter to me, and a poem which follows;

"MY Angel"

You are my angel on Earth
God sent to take care of me
You did the best you could
As far as I can see.
Now God wants you back
But I need you here
To keep my life on track.

Memories build and years go past
In the back of my mind
I know won't last
Cause God gave his Best Angel
To love me unconditionally
Told me to pass her love on to others
Because Heaven"s where she'll be.

And now when I am thinking of her
I smile and look to the sky
Cause God has my mommy
In heaven she'll never cry!

When our children are first born, we are their whole world. The window of oportunity to make a difference in their lives is so small. The years go by so fast and before you know it they are teenagers and your wondering what you did to deserve this kind of punishment. They move away, and then they are your best friend. I pray to God that I will have the time left to see them as parents and see the circle come to pass. Blessings to you All of you, this Birthday of our Lord. Lu Ann.

LuAnn

I have seen the circle in my life, and am very thankful for it...my 5th grandchild is on its way, my son's first, and I hope I am here to see it...I love what your daughter did for you...I had my whole family here today..30 people...I am dragging, but it was so wonderful...I always think, what if I am not here to do it next year...I want to make my memories every chance I get...there was so much love in my home today, enough to last me a lifetime!
Merry Christmas

Kids can and do give back!

Luann - what a BEAUTIFUL poem!

We also had the kind of Christmas where the kids (most of them) give back.

After so many years of shouldring the holiday entertaining, they are starting to take it off of us. We gave a complete set of china for 12, with all the serving pieces to our daughter. It was my husband's aunt's and came to us about 13-14 years ago. We have enjoyed it, but passed it on. Our daughter was SO proud to use it at her house. She cooked such a beautiful meal for all of us!

Then another son took a lot of slides that we gave him of the kids when they were quite young and put them through his slide scanner and made some prints of some for little albums and the rest are all on a DVD. It was VERY touching as we did not expect that when we gave the slides to him.

Love comes around in mysterious ways.

Lu Ann,

That was just beuatiful. How very specail your daughter is and what a warm and wonderful relationship you two must have. God has given you plenty to be thankful for.
Steph and Shelia, you also have wonderful children to give back to you. My kids are to young, but they have on Mother's Day, they wrote me a great letter telling me how lucky there were to have a mom like me. Ages 9/10. Aren't they the best gift of all? Love to you all.
