Question about Path Report
Hi Laides,
I have a question, below is my path report, can someone tell me what the following means: Estrogen and progesterone receptor results are scored as a percentage of positively stained nuclei as followes: Positive - >10% of tumor cell nuclei low positive >1% to <10% of tumor cell nuclei Negative <1% of tumor cell nuclei Her2/neu indeterminate (2+) by immunoshistochemisty, I did have the fish test, but don't have that report. Does this mean I have low er+ and pr+ Than a wrote some number doen by my her2/neu report, it says 2.7 and 17, totally forgot what that was. Any help? Just curious, I have already done 4 A/C and 12 taxol/herceptin, start rads in Jan, then we will see what is next, depending on if i'm in menopause. Thanks Randi |
Hi Randi,
The 2.7 is probably what your IHC score was. Anything over 2 usually goes on to have a FISH test done. At least that was how it worked in my sitution. The 17, someone else can help you with, I think it has to do with how many strands of DNA are attached or something that meant nothing to me. Sorry. On my report for er/pr statis, it says specifically what the percentages are for each. I think you maybe looking at ranges, does it say favorable or unfavorable or borderline on that same page? You might want to check with your onc. about that. I would think they would be able to give you a specific number. Best to you Randi. |

I am fairly certain that what you are seeing is just a definition of what the results mean and not any results. Positive - >10% of tumor cell nuclei: This means that if the results are above (or greater than) 10% then it is positive. low positive >1% to <10% of tumor cell nuclei: This means that the results are low positive if they are between 1% and 10%. Negative <1% of tumor cell nuclei: and this means if the results are below 1% they are negative. I cannot respond to your qustions about HER2 as I am real dummy about what that means. Hope this helps. Marlys |
Hi there
I actually do testing - the last reply was correct - you are just looking at reference ranges not your results. The other results (2.7 / 17) may be your FISH results but is not clear by what you have written. Does it say anything else? |
