Newbie here , need input on weekly vs 3 weeks
Hi All,
I am new here. Was dxed with bc stage III in Oct 2001 at age 29.Her2 neu 3+. (Was in a large trial but was radomized to the arm that did not get herceptin just weekly taxol.) Then Oct 2002 the cancer spread to my ovaries. I have been on weekly herceptin since then. I just has all my scans and they were clean. I have been stable (NED) for 3 years. I am considering switching to every 3 weeks due to a variety of factors. Now want to go to work part time and I have moved and am now 120 miles round trip from my onc (or any that takes my insurance) so the drive is getting old. My son has started kindergarten. Basically, cancer has taken a back seat as my life is somewhat normal. Looking for feedback(more side effects etc ) or studies. I know some that have had recurrence after this and some doing fine. Its a leap of faith, scared to mess with something that is working but also want to get on with my life. I should note, my onc is fine with what I decide. She suggested every 3 weeks after I was on herceptin a year but was fine b/c I wanted to stay weekly. Thanks Kelly |
I was more achey when I received my herceptin every three weeks as they gave me a much larger loading dose. I already have mets so I can't help you out with the Ned factor. I'm sure there are others who can lead you in the right direction.
On a different subject....My husbands cousin Shirley lives in Brigantine,NJ. She and her husband own a factory that make banks that look like large bottles of Hershey Syrup, Coke, etc. I don't know how large Bringantine is but thought you might know her or know of her company. Blessings to you, Lu Ann. |
Hi, I am on triple 3 weekly and I don't have any problems with it, I am not NED as usual but it does give you back some kind of a life not having to have a procedure every week, and I have one nurse under the thumb, when she asks me how long it is over and suggests it is 45 minutes I agree and no problem with that either. You can always swap back if you get nervous, I believe the drug stays in the system for about 6 weeks anyway.
Love & hug Lyn. |
