what about HERA results for 2 yr. arm

Joe,
I briefly read the results that 1 yr. Herceptin is good but they did not see if there is an improvement with the 1 yr vs. 2 yr. arm. My mom's onc said that she may return to more Herceptin if this proves to be true. Please find out for us. I know for sure that the HERA trial in UK was designed with a 1yr and 2 yrs Herceptin arm.

Thanks.
Anne

Anne,

They just closed the studies last April, I'm afraid we are going to have to wait another year or so.

Regards
Joe

Thanks Joe,
I do hope if the results are good they will call back the women who have just had one year. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Just want to say I'am stage 1c, and my onc. has put me on herceptin for two years. Don't know if my ins. will balk at this or not. I have not met anyone else at this point that is early stage and will be on it every three weeks for two years. I'am going to U of M , and this is their ins. so I'm thinking it will be approved

Herceptin for 2 Years

Hi:

I am Stage IIB and I am in my second year of Herceptin. I, however, wasn't lucky enough to have Herceptin with my Taxol. The first year of Herceptin started 30 days after my last Taxol treatment. I think my oncologist felt bad that I had not been enrolled in a cllinical trial so when I asked for the second year of Herceptin he readily agreed. My insurance is paying for the second year.

Curious,

Who is your oncologist at U of M? I live in Grand Rapids and I may have my onc refer to him/her (even if I pay the extra yr), they must have good reason to. Thank you.

Answer to Rhonda

Rhonda:

If you question was addressed to me; I unfortunately live in Arizona and receive my Herceptin from an oncologist at the Virginia Piper Cancer Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.
