Yes, Michele you can. Just go to the right-hand link on the menu bar: "user CP" and then open "settings and options"; "edit profile picture".
I'm just learnig to so I hope I havn't lead you astray.

Testing adding an image to a post.


....Ok so to add an image to a post if anyone is interested you just go down to "Additional Options" and hit the "Manage Attachments" button and just browse to the photo and hit upload. Then just type your message. You can also add an image into the message from a website if you click the little icon with the mountains and sun. Just type in the full address of the photo.
