I have developed a rash on my hand. I just had #11 of taxol/herceptin yesterday. Onc. doesn't know what it is and wants me to go to a derm. I have had it for about 3 weeks. It hasn't gotten worse, but it just won't go away. I have been using a hydrocortisone cream, but no real improvement. It doesn't itch or is painful. I haven't been using harsh chemicals or switched soaps or anything like that. Has anybody had a rash while on taxol or herceptin? I am hoping it might just go away after my last taxol treatment next week. I am sick of seeing drs. and really don't want to start seeing another new one. Thanks

Hi,
I did AC then Taxotere + Herceptin and everything was fine. At the end of Taxotere my Herceptiin which was once a week during treatment then went triple doese every three weeks. After the first triple dose, my legs started "breaking out" near my ankles. My Onc wanted to know what it was so I had it biopsied and it was Pupora (sp) a breaking down of the blood vessels. We changed from every 3 weeks to once a week, it went away. I continued for the remainder of the year doing Herceptin weekly. Everything was fine.
I still don't know for sure if it was related, but everything worked out. I hope this helps.

I did 12 weekly Taxols, and had quite a rash on my hands and lower arms. Onc wasn't bothered at all, chemo nurses (always the best sources anyway) said "ah yes, Taxol rash" and suggested using small amounts of hydrocortisone cream. That helped, but it didn't really go away completely until end of Taxol. The immediate recognition by nurse made me sure this is something seen pretty often with Taxol. I'm on weekly Herceptin now and am not having any rash problems at all. Hope you get an answer and a fix for this soon! Jo
