I am taking Herceptin alone post chemotherapy treatments. I finished TAC chemotherapy 7 months ago and my hair on my head, legs, arms, etc. started to grow back quickly. Now that I have had 3 Herceptin treatments (once every 3 weeks) I have noticed that the hair on my legs and arms has stopped growing - my hair on my head is still growing. Has anyone else taking Herceptin alone noticed changes in hair growth? I am not complaining but I never noticed this as a side effect.

Jamie,
Hi! I just had my 4th Herceptin treatment, and I would have to agree with you! My hair has slowed down growing as well. Odd but true! So your not alone! TO |
Jamie,
I had Gemzar with Herceptin for 9 months, and my hair got really thin. It was still trying to grow in from my A/C and Taxotere. Now I have been off Gemzar for 9 months, and my hair is growing in a little better, but is still very thin. It was also breaking off a lot in the back because I was using hair pieces. I hope this isn't because of the Herceptin, since I will be on it forever. I guess I am going to start to use Nioxin shampoo and scalp conditioner again. Denise in PA |
I finished chemo 2 1/2 years ago and although the hair on my head is thick and appears to grow at the same rate as previously, I've notice that I don't have to shave my legs and underarms nearly as much as I did pre-chemo. In fact, my underarms harldy have any hair at all. And that's without Herceptin.

I finished chemo in sept 2004. I have been on Herceptin since. Every three weeks. My hair grows faster than before chemo. I had very fine leg and underarm hair and hardly had to shave. I guess everyone is different. Sally
