Recap: recurrance in Nov.2004. Spot on Lungs, two nodes. Routine MRI showed 2 tumors on Brain. Dec. gamma knife blew the two mets to smitherines. By April, chemo had poisened the lung and node mets out of existance. Routine MRI at the same time showed 12 more mets to brain, all small (largest 9MM). Started WBR immediately, 15 treatments. Not that terrible. I tollerated it quite well. No decadron as the MRI showed no swelling and the radiologist said I could go without it unless I felt I needed it. NO WAY!!!! So no sideeffects from that to deal with. Now I am just waiting for the follow up MRI the week of August 15 to find out if there is anything else left of the mets. I hope not, as it will mean more gamma knife. It is scary to me when I hear about the people who had a met slip and paralize them. I hope that won't be me.
I will let you know what the news is in a couple of weeks. Mickey |
Fingers are crossed, prayer said....let us know when you get the results.

Hi Mickey,
I am happy to hear from you at last! :-) Been wondering about you... Glad to hear that WBR wasn't such a bad experience. I am actually more afraid of WBR, opposed to gamma knife! Am I weird or what? :-P You are in my prayers; God bless you ~ JO. |
Hey Lady -
Good to hear from you. You know we worry when we don't hear from someone for a while. Glad the news is good right now for you. My med onc keeps saying that WBR would not be that bad should I need it some time. Like he is "preparing me for the inevitable" or something. We all know that you will have a good report this time. NO Decadron - you lucky duck. That was a blesssing in itself. Such a long haul back from big doses of THAT stuff. Forge onward. |
Mickey, so glad to hear you've gotten through all of this with your spirit intact. Keep us posted, and I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
