The grey box in the Tests and Trials section brings up a 2004 presentation by Dr. Carney with Bayer. It is an EXCELLENT description of HER2 from a clinical perspective.

Dr. Carney also explains the serum test and its monitoring procedure.

But my question, which I e-mailed Dr. Carney, is how this test can benefit me at this stage. His graphs clearly showed that the amount of Her2 in your system will affect your longevity. Since we currently have no option other than Herceptin for treatment, how would this test do anything but tell me whether my life expectancy is shorter than what I hoped?

I do hope he responds, and with his permission, I will share his response.

Love and light to all,

Lisa

You pose an interesting question - can't wait to see what the answer will be.
I want to bring up this test with my med onc, but am already in a blood study trial at the U of W that tracks keratin-19. This study is coming up with some interesting results which may be ready for San Antonio this year.
