I know that Tamoxifin isn't the right drug for ER/PR- --my oncologist mentioned Femara as a possibility, but I read its indications, and it also seems to be targeted to ER/PR+ patients. I just finished chemo and will be done with radiation by mid- to late-August.

Could each of you tell me what you are taking (or did take) after your chemo and radiation treatments? I was going to apply to the vaccine trial at Windber, PA, but I just got my HLA results and they disqualify me. I was really hoping to participate in that trial -- now I feel like there aren't as many options out there.

Recap of my situation:
Diagnosed with large Her2+++ tumor left breast, Stage II or III...late November
December thru mid-February....Herceptin/Taxol/Carboplatin
Excellent tumor shrinkage with the neo-adjuvant chemo
Single mastectomy early March 2005
Stage III confirmed due to tumor size and 5/8 positive nodes
Herceptin/Taxol/Carboplatin....mid-March to mid-June
Radiation planning session tomorrow
Reconstruction slated for March 2006

thanks--I really appreciate your help!
Val

You can participate in the seattle vaccine trial. For stage 3 they have a DNA based vaccine which does not require you to be HLA positive. But you should be menopausal. Hope this helps.

Val,
Yes, you would qualify, like she said, for the Univer. Of Washington vaccine. I did the Herceptin trial for a year after Taxol then i wanted to do something more too. I had my first vaccine 2 weeks ago. If you have any questions please let me know. mulmer@mainstaycomm.net
