If you do get side effects from Xeloda,
do you get them immediately or some days later after your infusion? Thanks! |
Hi Jojo, Xeloda is taken in pill form. You take it twice a day, in whatever strength your onc prescribes for you.
The side effects for me tended to build up a little, but weren't too bad, Mainly ugly toenails/fingernails, and some peeling of the hands and feet. This was at my optimum dosage of 1000 twice a day (total of 2,000). On the higher dose of 2000 twice a day(total of 4000), I got horrible pains, and found it intolerable. The lower dosage worked well for me, so you might have to tweak your dosage before you find one that works well, and is tolerated by you. What was great about Xeloda, was its portability. You didn't have to worry about any schedules, if you wanted to travel, you just took the pills with you. I was taking my daily Xeloda dosage while in Aspen for 10 days skiing in Feb of this year. |
I take 1650mg twice daily. Except skin pigmentation on hands, I don't have any side affects.

Esther - How wonderful that you could travel AND SKI! So glad to hear your living with cancer and not dying from it!! Keep up the good work!! |
I started on 4000mg/day and my feet started hurting and tingling....it was like walking on glass or sharp rocks. The onc backed me off to 3000mg/day and it went away. The main side effects for me are dry skin which can be managed and dry, red eyes which can also be managed.

Jojo...did you start on xeloda?
|
Jojo -
Guess I am a little behind on things. Why do you need Xeloda? Lymph nodes acting up again? HOPE not! You have had enough to deal with lately. |
No, I am not on Xeloda, but my onc is talking about putting me on it??....
Will find out in 2 weeks. Update coming your way! |
