Good for your for persisting in this, and getting a CT for Linda's liver mets scheduled.
It will be interesting to see what differences will show up with another type of "picture."

Dear Steph,

Thank you for your concern. I am constantly over-whelmed by the interest and concern our cyber-friends have for Linda. Steph, you have a heart of gold, as do all of the members of this board. What a great place to share ideas and to be listened to. Why is it that my cyber-friends have more interest in our lives than people (and relatives) we thought we knew for years?? Did you know that Linda's brother still hasn't acknowledged that his sister has cancer. He hasn't asked here once, "how are you doing? OR How do you feel?" let alone, what is your prognosis? (this in 1 1/2 years)

Truthfully, I'm concerned about her because her enzymes have been creeping up and the last ultra-sound said "diffuse disease though-out ALL the liver". The only emzyme not elevated is Bilirubin, which makes you jaundice. Good news is that her counts have dropped since she started Xeloda 2 weeks ago; so we know chemo is working.

I have been looking-up diffuse disease vs solid tumours and the only reference I could find was liver mets in colorectal cancer. In that case, diffuse = poorer prognosis. What really pisses me off is that the liver mets were evident on her first scan after primary BC diagnosis and we could have delt with the 2 spots then.....certain members of the medical establishment weren't forth-coming.

I will be patient until the May 3rd CT scan results are in. After that, depending on the results.....let me just say that inaction is not part of the game plan. Linda and I (Linda has read your posts), have a great admiration and respect for you and the way you have handled your recent crisis. Your strength and courage exempify the life force on this board: "you can beat us up but you can't hold us down"!

So.....like half the members here.... I am caught in the waiting game: just waiting for something to happen. In the mean while, we visit with our grand daughter Mackenzie, look after the kids still at home, look forward to our daughter's return from university and constanly plan for the future. On occasion, we reflect on our neighbours, who have their health, who bitch and complain, who hate their spouses, and everyone else...... and then Linda comments, "I'd rather have Cancer"! Life is what you make it and right now, we love our life and NEVER complain.

Thanks for listening, as if you had any choice!

Al and Linda, it's the silver lining in the cloud, this awareness we BC survivors have. We were so amazed and grateful After Cancer to find that suddenly, all the BS in our lives just dropped away and we were left with a sense of clarity and purpose that has been unwavering. And I used to be pretty good at procrastinating, but not anymore! As you say, we love our life and NEVER complain!
Keeping you both in my thoughts as you wait for the scan results...

You are a great person and spouse. You really have helped everyone on this board. I am sorry that Linda is having a little setback, but I hope and pray Xeloda will make the difference. Thanks for all your support and we are here to help with whatever you need. I can't help but think that private healthcare has it's advantages over the Canadian system sometimes. Thank you for your support ladies. And..., I never understood the how much help a support board, this one in particular, can be. I am convinced this board has extended the lives of many, not to understate the emotional support it gives everyone. Christine and Joe should get a humanitarian award for their efforts here.
