Hi Angela,
I'm confused about why your onc suggested Femara for you?Femara is a hormonal therapy and since you weren't hormone receptor positive (at least not very strongly)it doesn't seem like hormonal therapy (like tamoxifen, arimidex, femara) would be indicated. Also, Femara DOES NOT target the Her2 oncogene, only Herceptin (so far).I'm concerned that you're not getting accurate information. Please be sure to ask him to clarify before you go fwd with any additional treatments. I agree with the other ladies, if you are Her2+++, but no lymphatic invasion or distal mets, please try and find a clinical trial that will start you on Herceptin. Not only to keep you protected, but also to contribute to finding an effective treatment to stop the disease. I wish you well. Please come to us for anything...questions, support,comfort...there are some brilliant women (&men) that post here. Take good care & keep the faith, Jessica |
What about the heart problems that Herceptin can cause? I'm only 39 with lots of heart problems in my family. I have already seen a cardiologist for had palpatations and a valve that leaks just a little. My onc. said I didn't qualify for Herceptin and that it was too much of a risk. How do other feels about the risk?
