I was dx Oct 03, then bone mets dx (two small areas) in Feb this year.
I was told a couple of days ago that my primary tumour was HER2+. I imagine from what you have suggested, that my small primary 2.2cm, one encapsulated pos. node, no vascular invasion, probably had already spread due to HER2+ status. My onc. told me I was a complex case and I am beginning to understand what he may have meant. My primary tumour was 50% ER+, 10% PR+, and 25% of the cells were overexpressing the HER2/neu gene (++). I have been told that I will go onto Armidex after my CMF chemo is finished, but not Herceptin yet. I wonder if Armidex and Herceptin can be given at the same time, I'll have to try to find out. Hi Ally,
Not only CAN Arimidex and Herceptin be taken together, they are being tested together in at least one clinical trial for women with her2+ disease. You can look it up on cancer.gov, but make sure to use the "official" names of the drugs (trastuzumab for herceptin, anastrozole for arimidex). Good luck, Jeff |
Hi Ally,
I have been taking Herceptin and Arimidex together since Jan. of 0/3. |
