I wanted to answer you re. chemo combination and visualization (I call it biofeedback and guided imagery) I have been on Herceptin/Navelbine combo for 16 months now. I am on the two weeks on and one week off schedule. I am almost in remission but the malignant pleural effusion always shows on the chest XRay and CT scan, although greatly dimininished because of this wonderful drug combination.

I, too, am a great believer in audio tapes. My biofeedback therapist will record our sessions so I can listen to the tapes any time. They help me to relax and to visualize being in another place (like an ocean setting). My therapist hooks me to a computer with sensors on my shoulder or other places where I carry tension. With her guidance, I see where my tension points are on the computer screen and have learned how to relax. It helps me with my breathing, too. I recently tried to buy guided imagery tapes online to give to a cousin going through Lung Cancer surgery. I was not happy with the ones I purchased so I just sent the cousin a commercial tape of relaxation music, which is not the same as "guided imagery" or "visualization." As a long-time cancer survivor, I highly recommend Bio-feedback. It is important to find someone in your area who is credentialed and experienced. It certainly cannot hurt you, and believe me it helps. Hugs, Maggie in Maryland
