I am sure of this, and I've seen the look in my doctor's eyes when he talks about someday being able to cure us. He suffers when we suffer, and he rejoices when we are doing well.
I know there are some out there who are without ethics, but thankfully this is rare.

As in life it is a mixed bag of people in the world. Some are honest and ethical while others are not.

Yes - I believe this too. My comments above were mostly directed at the drug companies, not the docs. Not that there is not some education component to those fancy evenings out, but that could be done in some less lavish settings.
ALL my docs are amazed that I am still around to bug them about whatever ails me. From my eye doc to my dentist. ALL are very impressed with the level of success I am having against a nasty kind of cancer.
