Hi All: Well, we got the news that the spots on my Mom's lungs the Dr. biopsied when she had her TALC proceedure are, in fact, a reoccurance of the original breast cancer she had 12 years ago. They did test the cancer and it is not HER2+...which I don't know if is good or bad. At least she would have been able to use Herceptin had she been positive. My question to all of you is this....for those who have had metastisis to the plueral lining of the lung...what kind of chemo did they use and what were the side effects (ie. nausia, hair loss, fatigue) so we know what to expect. She has an appt. with her Dr. this week and they will discuss a treatment plan at that time. Thanks in advance for any info. Take Care, Linda

I had a reoccurance of my breast cancer in Jan 2003 to my lungs (had been 9 years out from my original dx ) I had mutlple nodes that tested postive upon doing a broncoscopy. My vocal cords were affected as was my diaphragm. I was put on taxotere and herceptin (tested HER+++) for about 3 months and it totally wiped out the cancer!
I have since had some mets to the brain (last Aug ) and went through wbr and recently cyberknife and am doing pretty well
So there are some good chemos etc out there for lung mets. You will find the right one for your mom. Good luck and God Bless

Hey Linda...I don't have anything pertinent to say except that I am so sorry that your mom and you have to go through this, but hopefully she'll be put on an effective program and the spots will be wiped out. Good luck to both of you!
Love, Jackie

Linda, I just want to let you know that I'm thinking of you as you help your mom through this bad patch. Prayers and strength to you both.

Hi Linda, I met you in San Diego at the Survival fair some months ago. Sorry to hear about your mom. I have very bad lung mets, as you may remember me telling about them. However, being on Gemzar/Xeloda, seems to have been working for me. I hope all goes well. God bless you and your mom.
