I had stage II in 1998 and knew I was Her2+. However, when I had a lymph node recurrence in 2000 they tested Her2 with another method, I think it was the FISH test, I was found to be + for that as well. For that recurrence, I received CMF, radiation, and then 1 year of Herceptin. This was NOT a trial. I am not sure how I was able to get it in 2000. Maybe some clever diagnosis and notes from my onco. I have been on Herceptin ever since with temporary breaks here and there. It has definitely kept me doing as well as I am.
