This just in from Beth Israel Deaconness in Boston..."It is known that herceptin, an antibody, can bind to her2/neu on a cancer cell's surface and cause the destruction of that cell. Clinical trials were undertaken in which women with an advanced form of breast cancer that overproduced her2/neu were treated with this antibody. The number of women who responded favorably was small, but it was remarkable that some women responded at all, since their cancers were no longer treatable by more standard therapies. When herceptin was combined with a standard chemotherapy drug known to be useful in breast cancer, such as adriamycin or taxol, there was a noteworthy improvement in the effectiveness of the herceptin. "

Ladies, be careful what you read, be careful what you believe, do your research, listen to your doctors, go with your gut. That's all I'm saying.

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...r /> <br /> If you follow this link, it'll take you to an up to the minute article from medscape by Hal Burstein who is a researcher at Dana Farber. He lays out clearly how adriamycin is being thought of/used currently in her2 disease. It's a good, pretty readable article.

Best,
Jeff

I always thought the you can not mix Herceptin and Adria due to heart problems. Is this a new article or outdated?
