Do you all get your scan results in person at the onc office or do you get them over the phone? why?

I usually know right away because I am very nosy!

I get them over the phone from my oncologist usually the day the report is available to him (next day). We'll look at the scans together at the next regular visit. This is so I don't have to wait any longer than necessary to find out what is going on.

My onc calls me at home when he gets the reports, then I get copies at my next infusion. If there is a pressing concern I see him as soon as possible, otherwise we review things at my regularly scheduled visits.
Hugs,
Lolly

My med onc ALWAYS gives them to me in person as we coordinate my abdominal scan (for liver mets) to take place on the day before the next visit. This works out ok since I go in every three weeks for my herceptin and zometa and have the scan during the clinic visit.
Then I see my doc the next morning when he has all the bloodwork and scan results, which is every 3 months now that I am NED. Plus, I like to see him grin from ear to ear as he gives me the good news ... ;)
The only time I had a call was for my brain MRI this Jan. It was between scheduled visits and since the scan was negative he did not need to work me into to his VERY crowded schedule to discuss a treatment plan! WHEW!

I also schedule my scans the day before my office visit, so that I can get my results in person!I get so anxious and I have to prepare myself for the moment I get the report.I wouldn't be able to handle waiting for my phone to ring, at any moment,or possibly miss the call.
It's great to get good news, regardless of the method, but when I've gotten not so good news, it was helpful to sit with my onc and make a decisive plan on the spot.
Do what makes you feel the most comfortable!

was at the doctor today for my PET & CT scan results. Good news, no new mets anywhere & the other bone mets spots on the ribs & vertebrae are either slightly better or stable, not worse. Wish it could have been all clear, (I've not ever gotten to NED) but I'll take this. So, I stay on the same treatment routine for now - navelbine, herceptin, zometa & have scans again in 3-4 months. In January I'll have been on navelbine for 1 year & my doctor said if the next scan is this stable I may be able to go off chemo for awhile. I sure hope that happens, it would be great! Thanks to everyone on this site for your support. Pam

I am so happy for you Pam. You deserve a break from treatment and hopefully, the first of the year will bring that for you. Big hugs, Sandy

Pam, that sounds good to me too, you're doing great, and if you just hang in there someday you'll be dancing with ol' NED!
