Stopping tamox for surgery

hi all
has anyone stopped tamox to have surgery? and if so for how long?
i have my bmsx with TE's coming up Oct 15 and was told i have to stop my tamox 1 wk before by my MO and 2 wks before by my breast surgeon.
im nervous about coming off tamox for any period of time since i am 95% er/pr positive but i know there is a risk of clots with tamox. Its a long surgery and i will probably be immobile for a few days
thoughts?

Re: Stopping tamox for surgery

When I had my bmx last year, my doctors told me to carry on taking the tamox. I only missed the day after the operation as I was a bit groggy, but that was all. I was concerned with not taking it also. Hope that helps. Emma

I stopped taking it a week before my reconstruction surgery and started the day after.
