Wondering about Tx options
Hey there,
I am seeing my Onc's associate on Tuesday. I am er-/pr-, her2+ (severe). I would like to know what others with the same markers are taking for their chemo. I would like to have a heads up for this meeting. Any help is appreciated. |
The Breast Book by Susan Love, MD
Hi~
Getting educated is the most empowering thing you can do for yourself right now! You'll feel much more comfortable when you meet w/your onc if you have a solid base of knowledge. I found Dr. Susan Love's book "The Breast Book" incredibly helpful & user friendly. Since your appointment's on Tuesday, if might be faster to check out her website, but I'd recommend getting the book regardless. http://susanlovemd.org/breastcancer/ A common chemo combo for early stage BC is "AC +TH" Adriamycin+Cytoxan, followed by Taxol + Herceptin. I believe you'll be on Herceptin x 1 year, following active chemo. Since you are Node Negative, there may be some modifications to this combo. Hope this is helpful...it's been 51/2 yrs since my dx, and there have been many advances in BC treatment since then, so I wouldn't be surprised if my info is really out-of date. Definitely check out Dr. Susan Love's website & buy the book - they don't call it The Breast Cancer BIBLE for nothing! Take good care & best of luck~ Keep us posted |
Hi Michelle,
My dx was also er/pr- and her2+++ I had Adraimycin/Cytoxan dose dense (every two weeks) x 4 Taxol every week x 12 weeks with Herceptin weekly x 1 year. Love, Kelly |
My treatment was almost identical to Kelly except my Taxol started out every 2 weeks then to curb the neuropathy I was experiencing we switched to a weekly infusion. Herceptin w/ Taxol then continued Herceptin alone for a year.
Best of luck. Mary |
I had A/C times 4, every 3 weeks. Then rads, then Herceptin alone, every 3 weeks for the next year.

Michelle,
I won't write a long post here, but I will refer to a long thread that I posted as I was about to go into chemotherapy. I got lots of responses and support. See below: "Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin" I'll try to bring it up to the top of the list. best, Cristina |
